Swiss companies and organisations are increasingly active in Africa and have a local presence. In addition, the Swiss parliament regularly makes decisions whose impact appears directly on both the nature and the quality of Switzerland’s trade with these fifty-four African countries. That is why it has become essential to create a parliamentary intergroup Switzerland-Africa. The intergroup, founded in June 2014, will allow an enhanced dialogue between companies, NGOs and representatives on the global continental scale; it will provide a better understanding and contribute to advancing many projects for the good of Switzerland and Africa.

The Parliamentary Intergroup is headed by its president Pierre-André Page, National MP (National Council) and National Councillor Christine Badertscher as Co-President.

The Parliamentary Intergroup Switzerland-Africa is a group of the Federal Assembly according to the article 63 ParlG.
