Media – Switzerland, a partner of Africa
African media often face challenges. Nevertheless, independent information is available – even in countries where the freedom of media is under pressure. Through the television broadcaster TV5 Monde, various western media act as intermediaries, for example Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS): the French-speaking branch of the Swiss Radio and Television Corporation (SRG SSR idée suisse) provides fresh perspectives on local and global discussions, which contributes to a positive perception of Switzerland on the African continent.
To discuss these perspectives, we were pleased to host Gilles Marchand (Director of RTS and designated director general of SRG as of Fall 2017) and Jean-Marie Etter (Founder and director general of Fondation Hirondelle).
This event was organised in collaboration with SRG, RTS and Fondation Hirondelle.
